The International Annual Conference of the Medical Section at the Goetheanum 2024: Therapeutic Intuition—Perception and Reality in Diagnosis and Therapy.
How does it feel to see someone again whom you haven’t seen for a long time? What was it like to finally meet in person again after a long separation—or purely virtual communication—when the corona restrictions were eased? For many, the experience of coming together again brought joy, warmth, enrichment, and vitality. It was not uncommon for people to realize what they had really been missing.
However, the consequences and challenges of this limited connection and perception have not disappeared from our everyday therapeutic practice. In fact, they continue to increase and intensify as part of a process that has emerged with the increasing dependence on a mechanized form of medicine and has experienced an exponential acceleration in recent years—be it through laboratory tests, imaging procedures, genetic examinations, telemedical consultation, or artificial intelligence. These developments, which in their speed and complexity are often beyond human scale, consistently aim to eliminate the human encounter as a central part of the healing process.
The International Annual Conference 2024 of the Medical Section will deal with the central questions: “How can we perceive what is true?” and “What are the concrete benefits of anthroposophical spiritual science for the healing arts in today’s world?” These questions will be examined from many perspectives during the conference, through specialist conferences, in-depth spiritual work, multi-professional working groups, lectures, case presentations, and workshop discussions.
