To support agricultural work in fruit or wine growing, the Austrian company Greenhive has developed intelligent workmates.
The ‹Gigas› – ground drones – are the «electromechanical version of an ant» for the care of perennial vertical crops. The small, lightweight machines have electrically adjustable fan sprayers on both sides with which they can apply crop protection spray. The machine takes into account weather conditions such as headwinds during application for effective wetting. With its light weight, it avoids unwanted soil compaction and relieves humans of the sometimes dangerous work on steep slopes. The harvests could thus be more safely protected against fungal and pest infestation. Is this what the agriculture of the future will look like?
