The warming of the Earth's atmosphere is causing the winds to blow more strongly, which is reflected in the currents of the world's oceans, on the surface and - as has recently been discovered - in the deep sea. Thus, climate change not only means a change in the air body of the earth, but also in its fluid organism, a change not only in its thermal organization, but also in its flow life.

Meinhard Simon, b. 1953, studied biology and hydrology in Constance and Freiburg. Professor of Marine Microbiology and Biological Oceanography at the University of Oldenburg since 1997. He has taken part in research voyages in the Southern Ocean and the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, spending a total of more than a year at sea.
